In her social media post, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said that the Makabayan bloc should be expelled from the House of Representatives.
The mayor slammed the party-list system for serving as a “milking cow” of terrorists.
The furious post was a reaction to the earlier pronouncement of ACT Teachers Davao Region Chapter that Davao City is the only major city in the country that does not give local allowances to teachers.
“Davao nalang ang hindi pa rin nagbibigay hanggang ngayon. Hindi bago ito, matagal na ito; dekada na yan na nangyayari,” said ACT-Teachers party list representative, Antonio Tinio.
This was refuted by Mayor Duterte-Carpio who said in her post that in December 2016 and 2017, Davao City gave P2,000 worth of gift checks to teaching and non-teaching employees of the Department of Education.
She also called members of ACT-Teachers Davao as “liars” and “terrorists”.
Tinio accused the Davao mayor of harassment.
“Pananakot ito, harassment at naglalagay sa panganib sa mga guro natin. Alam naman natin may mga kaso na kapag tinatawag na terotista nagiging biktima ng pagdakip at extrajudicial killings,” he said.
The Act-Teachers Party list admits that granting of local allowances to teachers is not mandated by law, but they insist that if other local governments were able to do extend assistance to the teachers, Davao could do so much more.
As for the presidential daughter’s call for their expulsion, Tinio said, “Pareho sila ng AFP, lalo na sa pagpapalaganap nila ng fake news na Red October; dyan patungo yan.”
