Last weekend, I had the rare opportunity to catch not one, not two, but THREE performances in three different venues.
The first was Erik Santos’ 15th anniversary concert at the MOA Arena on Saturday, September 22. It was a star-studded affair attended by Erik’s friends. The place was filled to the rafters with fans of the celebrants and his guests: Martin Nievera, Jay-R , Inigo Pascual, Jaya, Ogie Alcasid, Regine Velasquez, Moira de la Torre, to name a few. Even Gary Valenciano and wife Angeli were there.
The second was “Sideshow” at the Carlos P. Romulo auditorium, RCBC Plaza in Makati, the tale of Siamese twins who long to be just like other girls , but are not, due to their physical deformity. They are plucked out of the Sideshow they grew up in, by two enterprising young men and are taught to sing and dance, thus achieving the goal of fame and fortune.
- Love, however, eludes both girls , butsuccess does not. In the end ,ironicallythe twins who long to be normal are cast in a film entitled “Freaks” .
I do not know the names of the members of the cast except for David Ezra, Aliw’s Best Actor in a Musical Production at last year’s awards night. I DO k now that all of the members of the cast gave a brilliant performance, especially the Siamese twins. Bravo!
The third was the mind-blowing performance of 2002 Aliw Entertainer of the Year Lani Misalucha who, with Morisette, delighted the SRO audience at Solaire’s The Theatre on September 23.
“Lani/Morisette: A Musical Journey” was a great entertainment experience which left the audience in awe .
Lani displayed her varied talents, including her impersonations of other icons and the wide range of her voice. The younger Morisette was not far behind.
Kudos to director Carlos Orosa for an excellent job!
’ Ditto , Musical Director Louie Ocampo ! Congratulations, Solaire Resort & Casino,
for bringing world-class Filipino entertainers to The Theatre .
