The Department of Tourism has high hopes that  it will reach its target of 7.4 M tourist arrivals by the end of this year.

This is due to the fact that for the first  half of 2018,  tourist arrivals have reached  3.7 M.

DOT Secretary Bernadette Romulo Puyat expressed her confidence in reaching that goal at the Bulong Pulungan Forum  at Sofitel last July 24.

She pointed out that despite the closure of Boracay last April 26, tourists ,mostly from Korea, China, the United States, Japan and Australia ,have been coming to the country, thanks to the support of the private sector, namely the tour operators,  hotels and specially Philippine Air Lines, which has increased its flights to and from the Philippines.
